We have just submitted Ratio Analysis 1.2 to Apple. This is the first update of the app and includes some nice improvements. This user interface is now much better visually, particularly the calculation screens. We have also done some minor bug fixing and some major performance enhancing. The app performs much, much better now and is very solid. We also added a ratio requested by a customer: Compound Annual Growth Rate. Calculating it works exactly how you are used to for the other ratios. Below is a list of the updates and some screenshots:
- Improved user interface
- Bug fixes
- Performance fixes
- Added Compound Anual Growth Rate
- New icon

One Man Band was developed with the musical challenged in mind. Most other music creation apps expect you to have some musical knowledge but One Man Band makes it easy for anybody to be creative. The main screen of the app features a bass guitar on the left hand side of teh screen and an electric guitar on the right. Each has five frets. To start playing just hold down on a fret. This begins a loop. Play bass and guitar loops simultaneously to make your song!
Once you have that mastered you can add in drums to give your song the full band effect. To start the drum loop just shake the device. Now all you need to do is play the guitar’s in time with the drums.
One Man Band has four genres:
- Funk
- Acoustic
- Rock
- Dance
Each has it’s own drum beat and guitar loops.
If you have mastered a song and want to make it more personal you can also edit the volume of each instrument in the settings.
Below are some screenshots of the app (click for full version):
We hope you like what you see! Tomorrow we will be posting audio samples of what can be achieved in One Man Band and later this week we will be posting a video of it in action!

Over the last few weeks we’ve been really busy testing and prepping One Man Band for release. It is finally ready and once the icon is complete we will submit it to Apple. We hope that they release it sometime next week.
We have also been listening to what F1 Mobile users have been saying and have been working on the next minor update of it. Track maps (the ones which can be viewed offline) are now back! This was the most requested change in this version. We have also tweaked the interface slightly. Aside from bug fixes this will be the last F1 Mobile update until the summer when iPhone OS 3.0 is released. To coincide with that release we aim to have a completely redesigned and re-written version of F1 Mobile ready, just in time for the second half of the season.
We have also begun work on two other new apps. One is a utility/education/reference app which is really useful. The second is a game which we will talk more about in the next few weeks.
As you can see there is a lot of new stuff coming soon so keep checking our twitter page (@hotrodsoftware) and this blog to find out the latest!

Well, we posted about an new app we were developing and as it is coming to the end of development I’ve decided to share a few more details. As I said previously it is a music app. Obviously there are many apps in the store that allow you to play an instrument or make a song, but our is different as it is designed with non-musicians in mind. The main screen shows a bass guitar and electric guitar. Pressing down on a fret play a riff (part of a song) that lasts a few seconds. Each fret plays a different riff. Because both instruments are at opposite sides of the screen you can play bass and guitar and the same time, mixing together different parts to form your song. What about drums though? Well, to start the drum beat just shake your device. This will start the beat and you can start playing along with it.
As everyone doesn’t like the same style of music there is a choice of four genres available. These are:
- Funk
- Acoustic
- Rock
- Dance
In the settings you can also control the volumes of the individual instruments allowing for more versatility when playing. The app will sell for $1.99/£1.19 and we should be submitting it to Apple this week. If all goes well we hope to have it on sale by the end of this month.
Some of the graphics still aren’t finalized but as soon as they are I will post a few screenshots and a video.

This is just a quick post on a new app we have coming out this week (hopefully). It is called Dog Chaser and does as its’ name suggests. The app emits a high frequency noise which annoys dogs. This should be enough to get most dogs to go away. You can choose between four frequency settings (as different dogs will react differently to different frequencies) and when you tap ‘chase’ a 5 second burst of the sound will be played.
It is impossible to ensure that Dog Chaser works on all dogs but it useful to have for when a stray dog is following you in the street. We will let you know when it is available.

F1 Mobile 2.1 was released early this morning and it fixes all the bugs that appeared with 2.0. Most notably the navigation bar at the top of the screen no longer obscures the most recent news item. So far the feedback has been good and people have been changing their reviews to reflect the fixes. We are very grateful for this. If there are any problems with 2.1 (although we thouroughly tested it and didn’t find any ourselves) let us know.

We have discovered a big issue with v2.0 of F1 Mobile. When we first sumbitted the app to Apple we immediately began working on a new version. Apple then found issues so we quickly fixed them a reuploaded the app. Unfortunately in our haste we uploaded the development version. Although there are no major problems with it we would like to apologize and inform you that we will have to problem fixed ASAP. Version 2.0 does have benefits though. Race results are now enabled. You can customize the tab bar and more. However here are some issues and workarounds to help in the meantime:
- When you tap google map you are asked if you wish to continue. When you tap ‘yes’ nothing happens. Tap ‘no’ to launch maps. (Basically the buttons are the wrong way round)
- Several icons are the same (this is just a visual problem)
- There are design inconsistencies
- Some sections do not have the correct headings on the navigation bar
- The info button in preferences cannot be tapped and the update preferences button is slightly obscured (but still tappable)
Again we sincerely apologize for this and will have it fixed soon.

We are aware of a bug in F1 Mobile Lite 2.0 that prevents users from accessing the first news story. We didn’t notice this bug as we were testing on a unreleased version of the iPhone software and the app worked fine on it. We are working to correct the issue and should have a fix out this week. Sorry for any inconveinience caused.
